The Basics of Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is becoming more and more common. There are a dozen television shows devoted to people getting plastic surgery. There are people getting plastic surgery to look younger, plastic surgery to look better, or plastic surgery to look like their favorite movie star. But plastic surgery is serious business, and this overview can help you decide If it is right for you.

The most popular plastic surgery is liposuction. This is a surgery that removes fat from beneath the skin using a large vacuum. A small cut is made into the skin of the fatty area. A thin tube attached to a vacuum is then placed under the skin. Fluid is often pumped into the skin to deaden nerves and make the fat easier to remove. Vaccuum liposuction isn’t the only option though. There is also ultrasound liposuction that does not require any incisions. That makes recovery much easier and does not leave any scars like the vacuum procedure.

Rhinoplasty – often referred to as a “nose job” – is also common. The nose job reshapes the nose by removing or reshaping the cartilage within the nose itself. Most common reasons for nose jobs are size reduction and bump removal. This is common for people whose noses have become crooked due to breaks or have deviated septums.

The breast enhancement may be the most famous of all plastic surgery. It is extremely popular – especially among young women. The surgery takes a saline implant that is shaped like a breast and places it beneath the skin of the breast. This surgery is usually performed to increase breast size. However, it is also commonly used for breast cancer survivors or to even out differently-sized breasts. Many women who have especially large natural breasts may choose to get a reduction surgery to lessen the overall size and reduced problems with back pain or ill-fitting clothes.
