Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The parameters of beauty also differ from one culture to another and also change with time and fashion. Ancient Indian sculptures and art depict women with full hemispherical breasts. Such breasts are still in vogue in India especially with women who prefer traditional saris or other ethnic dresses. The West, in contrast, has seen a lot of change in fashion -as related to breast size. In last hundred years fashion changed from full breasts to small flat look to artificially enhanced look.

Breasts should be proportionate to woman’s body frame and build. The concept of 36-24-36 inches, though quite exaggerated, basically refers to breast size being equal to hips, with a significant narrower waist in between.

Breast size is commonly referred to in terms of cup size, B C and D cup sizes being most common. The C cup is a moderate and pleasant size for a woman of an average build. The B cup may look adequate on a petite athletic woman. A lot of western models are a cup size B. D cup size breasts are full and look good on women of larger a frame. A lot of Indian women seeking breast augmentation like cup size D, especially married women who have had children. Younger, unmarried women tend to prefer smaller breasts.

A Woman’s body build is important in determining the most suitable breast size because if one’s arms or tummy is bulky then the breasts will have to be bigger to give the right profile. In thinner women relatively smaller size breasts will give the same look of fullness in the breasts.

Ideal breast size is also determined by one’s lifestyle. Active sporty women like moderate sized breasts. Women who wear heavier clothing like sarees want larger breasts. In contrast women who wear flimsy or western clothes may prefer moderate size breasts. Women in the entertainment industry prefer larger breast sizes.

A lot of women with breasts smaller or larger than average are perfectly satisfied with their size. Some women, on the other hand, are uncomfortable or embarrassed about their breast size. Sometimes their partners are dissatisfied. In such circumstances plastic surgical augmentation or reduction of breast can help women achieve a size they are more comfortable with or desire.

With so many choices to feel and look great, men and women around the world are turning to a variety of different options available on pharmacy shelves and beyond.

There’s no doubt that enhancing outer looks can help the inner beauty shine through – and with the freedom to choose anything – from a spa day to a new haircut – to boost our appearances, there’s something out there for everyone.

It’s this freedom of choice which has led to an increase in the number of people choosing to undergo procedures like non-invasive cosmetic surgery treatments in order to help them feel their best. The instant results and confidence-boosting effects of these treatments, including teeth-whitening, Botox jabs and laser-hair removal, has people all over the world flocking to clinics for a boost.

These procedures often provide a boost that’s less dramatic than more serious surgeries, and also helps promote the natural beauty of those who are looking for a confidence boost.

A recent study has revealed that women who chose to improve their looks out of their own accord experience a boost in confidence and self-esteem. Many believe that their inner beauty and true personalities shine through after these confidence-boosting procedures, and that anyone should have the freedom to choose to look and feel their best.

And it’s not only women, as men are jumping on the surgery bandwagon for many reasons. A recent study even proved that men believe looking good will help them stay employed, as it will encourage confidence in client meetings and in the boardroom.

When it comes to freedom of choice, no one wants to be told what to do. Many magazines around the world have been proactive in promoting cosmetic surgery as a personal choice that many women will feel empowered by.

In fact, recent research has shown that patients often feel a huge boost of confidence and well-being after undergoing cosmetic surgery procedures. The survey found that 90 per cent of women who chose to have breast surgery felt better about themselves post-operation.

And it doesn’t always mean taking drastic measures to improve your mood. Freedom of choice means you can take the time to pamper yourself and feel great doing whatever you like – whether that’s a jog at the gym or quicker solutions.

While many have chosen to oppose the freedom of choice to undergo cosmetic surgery, many are making the best choice for themselves. Whether that means a skin treatment or something more, like breast surgery, it’s up to you to decide.

Breast cancer strikes an alarming number of women, and many of them must deal with losing a breast through mastectomy. This is a terrible blow to your self image, self-esteem and your womanhood. Plastic surgery offers a way to get your looks and figure back. It’s called breast reconstruction and uses a DIEP flap to give you back what you’ve lost.

What Is A DIEP Flap

“DIEP” stands for “deep inferior epigastric perforator”. Inferior epigastric blood vessels are those that send blood to the new tissue used in breast reconstruction. It is a much easier and safer procedure than the older TRAM reconstruction technique that moved muscles to get blood to the new tissue. It also means a shorter hospital stay, less risks and more effective blood flow to your new breast.

DIEP flap is the most natural reconstruction option. It uses tissue from your body, including fat and abdominal tissue, to construct your new breast. This means that the grafted tissue will have a natural feel, just like the one you’ve lost. If you’ve ever considered getting implants, you know how unnatural they can look. This technique offers a more realistic option, since it uses your body’s own tissue.

To put it simply, the breast tissue is inserted, and then the DIEP flap connects it to your abdomen with blood vessels. The end result is a natural-feeling autologous implant that is really part of your body, connected by blood vessels. Many women who are undergoing reconstruction surgery opt to do a little other work on the side. It is a great time to get a tummy tuck, or other plastic surgery procedure.

In order to insert the DIP flap, the doctor has to remove tissue from the abdomen. While they are already working in that area, it is a great chance to remove or reposition tissue there as well. There are lots of women who would never consider plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons, but would get work one after a mastectomy.

What You Can Expect From Your DIEP Flap

Breast reconstruction with a DIEP flap is a permanent surgery. The results should stay with you a lifetime, meaning you’ll never have to have any follow-up surgery done. You can have natural-looking cleavage for the rest of your life. Like any other surgery, DIEP flap surgery is not without its risks. You should talk to your doctor in detail about what you can expect from the operation. You can expect a recovery period, where you will have to take it easy and follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.

The biggest risks involve the scars and tissue healing correctly. There can be bleeding, infection or complications caused by tightening of scar tissue. Risks and complications are rare, but you should be aware of them before you get your breast reconstruction surgery done.

During the consultation, have a look at your doctor’s before and after pictures. This will give you a good idea of what to expect, and that’s the key to your surgery’s success. Ask any questions you may have and get detailed information from your doctor before the operation about anesthetic and recovery time.

DIEP flap gives women who have lost a breast a wonderful chance to get it back and feel like a woman again. Don’t let a mastectomy ruin your life. Talk to a plastic surgeon about what the DIEP flap reconstruction surgery can do for you.

Don’t let mastectomy affect your womanhood! To regain your looks, opt for breast DIEP flap reconstruction. The Woodlands breast surgeon uses advanced techniques in breast reconstruction to create a natural looking breast.

Many women considering breast augmentation surgery have concerns about different aspects of the procedure. One of the most common questions is how large the scars will be and how visible they will be. Plastic surgeons realize that this is a major concern for most patients and will do all they can to minimize the size and appearance of the necessary scars. There are even several different types of breast implant methods that produce varying degrees of scar length and positioning.

There are basically four distinct techniques for inserting and placing implants during an augmentation procedure. The first is the TUBA method which stands for transumbilical breast augmentation. It is an endoscopic procedure, meaning the placement can be done with the use of tiny instruments while the surgeon can see what needs to be done under the skin through a microscopic camera inside that projects images to a video monitor.

The incisions for this implant surgery are inside the belly button, which essentially means there will be no visible scarring. The TUBA method is well designed for leaving no trace of the incisions.

A second method is the transaxillary breast augmentation that places the breast implants through incisions made in the natural folds of the underarms. While the resulting scars are detectable upon looking for them, usually they are no more than small, fine lines that are never seen or noticed in normal movement. This is typically considered the second best procedure for creating almost imperceptible scars.

The peri-areolar breast augmentation method makes an incision around the bottom half of the areola. Typically, since this area is darker than the surrounding skin the scars are well camouflaged at the base of the areola, but may show as a fine line that careful observers may discover.

This is technique is best recommended for women with large areolas that can hide the scars easily enough as women with small areolas will have ones that extend below the body’s naturally dark circles making them more noticeable.

Finally, the incisions in inframammary breast augmentation are made underneath the breasts in the natural crease where the bottom of the breast meets the chest wall. These scars are generally longer than all the other methods and will be noticeable when the arms are raised high above the head, but other wise are well hidden by the tissue. Successfully hidden scars with this method are much more common with larger breasted women than smaller breasted ones.

It is important for women to consider all the relevant aspects of each augmentation surgery technique, not just where and how big the scars will be, as scarring will vary from individual to individual even with the same methods. A qualified plastic surgeon can help interested candidates determine which procedure offers the best overall advantages for their specific needs and desires.

These might include things like whether they want silicone or saline implants, how big the implants will be, and whether they will be placed over or under the pectoral muscles. Figuring out the right combination of these factors will produce the most satisfying and longest lasting results possible.

Enhance your look and get a fuller figure with breast implants. The Woodlands cosmetic surgeon offers an array of enhancement options for women unhappy with their breast size.

Breast reconstruction is for those women who have had a mastectomy because of breast cancer or any other disease. Many times, it is possible to have the reconstruction done immediately after the mastectomy and is considered to be more advantageous.

The reconstruction is only suited for those women who do not have to undergo any further treatment to eliminate their disease.

The procedure involves creating a breast mound with a nipple and areola; and the opposite breast can be matched to the reconstructed one by way of augmentation, reduction or lifting. Usually the procedure is covered by insurance so women do not have to worry about shelling out money from their own pockets. There is no age limit for the procedure and choice for reconstruction depends on the affected woman. But the woman should be physically capable of withstanding a major surgical procedure.

The two most techniques used in the reconstruction are tissue expander/implant technique and transverse abdominus musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap. There is another technique known as latissimus dorsi musculocutaneous flap with breast implant but is rarely used.

The surgeon chooses the most appropriate technique for the reconstruction after taking into account what the woman wants, her health, and her anatomy.

The tissue expander/implant technique is a two part surgical procedure. In the first stage, a tissue expander is inserted just below the chest muscles. This can be done at the time of the mastectomy as it adds around an hour to the surgical time. In the second stage of the procedure, the expander is removed and saline or silicone breast implant is inserted. This procedure involves general anesthesia and take less than an hour if not work has to be done on the opposite side of the breast.

The TRAM flap technique uses the woman’s own tissue to form a breast mound. Besides the time for the mastectomy, it takes an additional 5 hours to complete the procedure. The woman would have to stay in the hospital for 5 days on an average and the recovery time would be approximately 5 weeks. Here the abdominal skin above the belly button is lifted and then stitched to the pubic area skin and the belly button is replanted. The five weeks recovery time is necessary to strengthen and straighten the abdominal walls and thereafter women can return to normal activity.

The latissimus dorsi musculocutaneous flap technique is used in women who have undergone radiation therapy and as a result do not have abdominal fat for recosntruction. The flap is made from the latissimus muscle and a breast implant is necessary to get the shape and volume. A tunnel is made at the base of the armpit and through this the latissimus muscle is brought to the chest wall.

In all three techniques, the nipple and areola are constructed in the second stage after the body heals from the first stage procedure. The nipple is formed using skin graft while the areola is created using the skin from the inner and upper thigh. This skin is pigmented and textured to give it a realistic appearance.
